Crock Pot

Someone who recently visited Naoadays asked if I enjoyed cooking after seeing that I have a "kitchen" section on the blog. I laughed and responded, "well, my last post is titled 'kitchen failures' so I'll let you draw your own conclusions."

True, I haven't posted here in nearly a year, but contrary to what I let him believe, I actually do enjoy cooking. I now have a friend whom I make dinner/dessert with once a week, and as a low-income young adult, this has been such a fun and cost-effective way to spend time with someone. We've made vegetarian chickpea curry, tiramisu, crepes... and enjoying the art of slow-living contrary to our packed schedules. In other news, meal-prep-(every-other)-Sundays have caught on quite well for me this summer, thanks to my new crock pot! I cannot endorse this kitchen appliance enough, because all you have to do is dump the food in the pot, press start, and sleep. Then the food is magically readily available to you the next morning.

I made honey-garlic chicken the other night and all I had to do was mix four ingredients, pour it over some chicken, and press start. It took less than 10 minutes (and one night of sleep) to make four meals worth of food. One minor con though - I live in a studio apartment and the delicious fragrance of honey and garlic filled the entire room while I attempted to sleep. I kept waking up because the food smelled so good (no jokes). This can easily be worked around though, and shouldn't be an issue for the most part.

I wish I could promise you that I'll post crock pot recipes, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. The fact that I wrote a post in this section is an achievement in itself.
